INSIDER #028 - Citiswich

🥳 Hello – Issue #028 is here. Come on in. Let's explore the past and present of Ozanam house on Roderick Street. Zoom in to Citiswich Industrial Estate in Bundamba. And have a look what's on for school holidays. Catch ya round town!

Meet Ozanam House: Late-Victorian Timber Queenslander

Ozanam House has stood on Roderick Street, Ipswich since 1886—one of Ipswich's most striking old Queenslanders, with wrap-around verandahs, French doors and fancy iron cresting on the roof.

Originally home to architect R.D. Graham, it later became a family residence for decades before turning into something even more special. In 1960, the local Vinnies moved in, naming it "Ozanam House" after their founder, Frederic Ozanam.

Over the years it's seen food parcels packed, hampers assembled, and even hosted a men's hostel out back. Today, it's heritage-listed and still helping Ipswich locals.

Citiswich, Bundamba: Big Builds, Better Access

In this week’s spotlight we’re exploring Citiswich, Ipswich’s largest industrial estate in Bundamba. Spanning 350 hectares, it's perfectly positioned between three major motorways—the Ipswich, Warrego, and Cunningham highways—with around-the-clock heavy-vehicle access and flood-ready building pads.

The estate is anchored by major companies like Capral Aluminium (operating since 2005), Costco (opened in 2019), Northline’s huge freight depot (opened 2024), and The Reject Shop’s busy state distribution centre—now owned by Dollarama.

New developments keep coming: Stage 4 unlocked additional western land, Stage 5 brought fresh subdivided lots, and Stage 7 is set to expand north of the Warrego Highway. The new SmartStores project will also deliver around 50 small-business units in 2025.
