INSIDER #047: The $8m paddock with a problem

A fun one this week. An $8m paddock with a rail problem. What Ipswich billboards actually cost. And your weekend sorted — Bull o Rama plus live music all over town. All the details below. Catch ya round.

🚧 This $8m Paddock Has a Rail Problem

An 18.3-hectare block next to Yamanto Central sold for $8 million after being marketed as “residential land”.

Now it’s back, with plans for 29 industrial lots (think mechanics, garden centres, and showrooms).

🪧 The Real Cost of Ipswich Billboards

Billboards aren’t just about price. They’re about location, traffic, and the "share of voice."

Our new Ipswich Billboard Field Guide maps the biggest local sites and decodes the industry jargon that usually trips up first-timers, including:

  • Digital Loops: How often your ad actually appears.
  • Hidden Fees: The costs of vinyl printing, installation, and changeovers.
  • The Goodna Goldmine: Advertisers pay $8k–$13k per slot here, yet the landowner hosting the 12.5m screen only sees about $330 a week.

Mascot Update: Getting the Details Right. We’ve updated our "Top Stories" mascot to more closely resemble the actual F/A-18F Super Hornets that call RAAF Base Amberley home. Flying with No. 1 Squadron, these local icons can hit Mach 1.6 and pull 7.5Gs. We wanted the icon to pay proper tribute to the real engineering marvels roaring overhead. Read the RAAF Fact Sheet →
