🧩 Introducing: Which 'Swich — An Ipswich Suburb Guessing Game

Did you know Ipswich has 82 suburbs?

How many could you name?

How many could you pick on an unlabelled map?

That's Which 'Swich. A new interactive game for you to test yourself on Ipswich geography.

It has two modes:

Place It

Gives you a suburb name and shape. You place it on the full Ipswich map in the correct location. Get it wrong and the map flashes with the correct spot.

Name It

Highlights a suburb shape where it sits inside the greater Ipswich area. You pick the suburb name from 5 choices. Guess until you get it right then the next suburb is highlighted.

It's quick and fun, nothing crazy.

🌪️ Ipswich's 14 Wildest Weather Days Ever

Remember the 2022 rain that drowned the CBD?

That was 216 mm.

Bad day. But it's not even close to the record.

The actual record is 340 mm. In a single day. 1974.

And that's just rain.

Ipswich has also copped 14 cm hailstones. 152 km/h wind gusts. 44.6° on Boxing Day. And -4.9° on a winter morning.

You've probably lived through at least a few of these.

But have you seen them all side by side?

We pulled the data from 2 BoM stations in Ipswich going back to 1870. Found the 14 days that stand above everything else. Then styled each one like a front page newspaper from the day it happened.
