All below. Catch ya round. 🦖 Dinosaurs Under IpswichThe story began in 1933, when dinosaur footprints were first reported at Lanefield Colliery near Rosewood. Then, in 1964, miners working 213m underground at New Chum looked up and saw 220-million-year-old dinosaur footprints preserved in the mine roof above their heads. And it wasn’t a one-off. Dinosaur footprints have now been recorded at 12 Ipswich mine sites. Some were only 7cm long. Others were nearly 80cm and came from giant meat-eaters up to 10m long, almost as tall at the hips as a T. rex. The New Chum tracks held Australia’s oldest-known dinosaur fossil record for 62 years. But scientists had the dinosaur itself wrong for almost all of that time.
